The Chilotilapia genus belongs to the cichlid family and consists of only one species, Chilotilapia rhoadesii, commonly known as the Malawi bream. It is exclusively found in Lake Malawi in East Africa and typically inhabits muddy substrates in both shallow and deep waters.
