Within the Atyidae family of small freshwater shrimp is the species known as the bee shrimp, or Cartidina cantonensis. Taiwan is the country of origin. These shrimp are scavengers that consume tiny bits of algae and decomposing plants. The lifespan of bee shrimp is roughly eighteen months.
