Although mature males will have a very narrow head and a dramatically arched back, this is a long, slender fish. Red Rainbowfish have two dorsal fins, a deeply forked mouth, and huge eyes—all traits common to rainbow fish. Mature males exhibit a bright blood red body and fin color in the correct conditions.
