Caridina longirostris, also known as North Qld Algae Shrimp, is a highly sought-after species for its active algae-eating abilities. These shrimp are voracious eaters, feeding on a variety of algae as well as detritus and leftover food in the tank. Their small size, averaging 1-2cm, makes them well-suited for smaller tanks. While they typically do not consume blue-green or green spot algae, they have been observed eating Black Beard Algae as a last resort. With their exceptional cleaning abilities, these shrimp make a great addition to any tank.
