M. duboulayi, also known as the crimson-spotted rainbowfish or Duboulay's rainbowfish, is a species of freshwater fish native to coastal eastern Australia. Although it has been popular as an aquarium fish since the early 20th century, it is primarily found in its natural habitat. This fish is often referred to as the original "Australian rainbowfish".
